The first paper from my PhD research is now published! The paper, titled ‘Quantitative video analysis of head acceleration events: a review’ was published in Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology.

Video plays many roles in sport. Beyond obvious entertainment and performance analysis purposes, it can also provide valuable scientific insight.

In this review we explore how video has been used to obtain quantitative measures surrounding head impacts and acceleration events, from established videogrammetry techniques to new computer vision methods, and consider how these approaches could shape future work on athlete safety.
